Joinery

The joinery is extremely tight and sturdy, so much so, that a piece of paper will not slide inside. All products are test fitted in our 12,000 square foot shop, then sanded and finished. We use traditional mortise and tenon joinery, secured with oak pegs. No bolts, nails or steel plates. All joinery is housed and drawbored, this assures that the joinery is even and stays tight. The peg holes in the tenons are offset; approx. 1/8" inch. This offset hole drifts the tenon into the mortise housing. Frames of this quality will last many generations.

Hidden steel connectors are used for seismic reasons when a client or architect does not want the metal to show. They are designed so that very little of the steel is showing. The bolts can even be hidden behind wooden plugs.

Installation:

When installing the timber frames on site, the owner builder or contractor will be given a set of plans that explains everything about the Timber Frame construction and installation of our timbers to conventional framing. There are instances when we can either send a crew to assist with construction or send a supervisor to advise. Either way we can connect you with a representative who can answer your questions.
